The Pantheon

Did you know that we’re all born to worship? It’s in our DNA to seek out something greater than ourselves. But here’s the catch: sin can trick us into worshiping things that aren’t really worth it.

Think about the Pantheon—once a place filled with statues of idols. Today, our “idols” might not be physical statues, but they’re just as real. We often find ourselves serving things like our careers, relationships, politics, or the approval of others. The list goes on!

But here’s the good news: Jesus came to show us the one true God. Check out this clip from The Chosen that captures a powerful moment from Matthew 16:13-20.

READ

“The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear, and mouths but cannot breathe. And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them.”–Psalm 135:15-18

REFLECT

Think about this: You become like what you worship. So, who or what are you putting your hope in?

PRAY

If you’ve found yourself worshiping anything other than God, take a moment to surrender it to him. Ask for his forgiveness and for him to deepen your faith.
