Il Foro Romano

Il Foro Romano è stato definito il luogo di incontro più celebrato della storia. Quando l'apostolo Paolo arrivò a Roma, il foro si era evoluto da un mercato all'aperto delimitato da edifici legali a un centro di culto pagano e sede di processioni trionfali per i vincitori militari. Praticamente tutto, a parte l'unico vero Dio, veniva adorato qui: affari, legge, governo, dei, commercio. Ora, quei poteri un tempo celebrati qui sono rovine, una testimonianza di un tempo passato. Questo è ciò che accade alle migliori idee dell'umanità, a parte Dio.

Mentre sei qui, cerca questi tre punti:

Tempio di Saturno: Tempio di Saturno: sede del tesoro di Roma, finanziato in parte da una tassa sugli schiavi liberati. Pensaci, gli schiavi liberati dovevano pagare per il privilegio della loro libertà. Ma con Gesù, non ci sono tasse. "Perciò se il Figlio vi farà liberi, sarete veramente liberi". —Giovanni 8:36. Il perdono di Dio è gratuito.

Tempio di Vesta: Dedicated to the goddess of the hearth, this temple was tended by priestesses who had to work to meet incredibly high standards of purity. Not so with those who call Jesus their Lord. He did the work for us, making us pure in God’s eyes. Reflect on 1 John 1:9,
“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all wickedness.”
